SAFE HOME PROGRAM

Emergency short-term housing is often available locally for domestic violence victims and their children. Individuals and families throughout our service area of Morrison and Todd Counties have made their homes available for up to one week in situations where this might be a better location than a traditional battered woman's shelter. If appropriate to the woman's situation and if space is available, these arrangements are made through our crisis line. To ensure safety, confidentiality and the continuation of this program, more limitations regarding the battered woman coming and going from the safe house are usually necessary. Potential providers are screened and trained on the basic dynamics of safety and of battering relationships before being accepted into the program.
